How to Use This Calculator and Why It’s Better Than the Rest
This calculator is great because you can solve for any of the four fields as long as you fill in 3 fields. It’s not just to calculate how much CAGR an investment has generated.
Using the CAGR Calculator
You only need to fill in three of these fields and then click “calculate.” The calculator will figure out the fourth!
To find out the growth rate of your investment: Fill in the Starting Value, Ending Value, and Number of Years. Leave the CAGR field blank.
To calculate what your investment will be worth in the future: Enter the Starting Value, the CAGR, and the Number of Years. Leave the Ending Value blank.
To see how much you need to start with to reach a goal: Plug in your desired Ending Value, the CAGR you hope to achieve, and the Number of Years. Leave Starting Value blank.
To determine how long it will take to reach your investment goal: Enter the Starting Value, Ending Value, and the CAGR. Leave Number of Years blank.
Example Calculation
Let's say you have $5,000 you want to invest. You aim to grow this amount to $10,000. You believe an annual growth rate of 7% is achievable. To find out how many years it will take for your investment to reach your goal, you would:
Enter $5,000 as the Starting Value.
Enter $10,000 as the Ending Value.
Enter 7 in the CAGR field.
Leave the Number of Years blank.
After clicking 'Calculate', the calculator will tell you how long it will take to double your investment at a 7% growth rate (the answer is 10.24 years).
